Hotel chosen, what type of room do you want?

Logistics Add comments

We’ve chosen the Cardinal Hotel in Palo Alto as our base and worked out a group rate so please reply with your preference of room based on the following information:

Standard room with private bath (single or double occupancy) $125.00 + tax per night. These rooms have either (1) queen bed or (2) double beds.

European style rooms with shared hallway bath (sink in the room – toilet and shower independent in the hallway). $65.00 + tax single or double occupancy. These rooms have either (1) queen bed or (1) double bed.

The Cardinal will also work a group rate for the wireless and is offering a meeting room for our daily gatherings which has a small “business center” with terminal where guests can check e-mail etc.

I just noticed that Robert Scoble has blogged about Junnoon (one of the best new restaurants of 2006 according to Esquire!) which he calls “Silicon Valley’s best place to spot a venture capitalist”. It just so happens to be a few hundred feet from the Cardinal.

And he also mentions that “it’s right next to [the] Facebook [office]”.

So I’ve added both locations to the map at -

I think it is a great choice for a hotel, you can also walk to the caltrain station if there is sunny weather, and as said, the surrounding infrastructure is great as well.

They do have a big room they will offer you as a meeting facility right upstairs out of the lobby but the other guests will not like you as you will block their internet access. ;) I remember also seeing a printer there in the room.

Gotta laugh – what must most Americans think of us when they name rooms with no bathroom “European style”!! No wonder they don’t stray far – we’re putting the fear into them – “what, no toilet in the room?” “no, use a beer bottle” “and your women don’t shave their armpits!”…Gonna have to keep up the stereotype and book a European style room…unless of course i have funding prior to the trip and then I’ll take the suite!

Thanks for sorting the accomodation – on less thing to worry about.

I’ll put you down for a Standard Room then Shane? ;-)
